Meet Rachelle Koenig
It’s nice to virtually meet you (unless we already know each other — in that case, hey there)!
Let’s get the first thing out of the way: how to pronounce my name. Think Rochelle, but with a ‘rah’ instead. I’ll answer to a lot of things, but it helps to know my name when it’s time to vote. 😉
I’ve been an Oswego resident for almost two decades. In fact, I was a wobbly 7.5 months pregnant with my first child when we first visited and decided to make it home. Driving through Oswego and its sprawling neighborhoods as we were house hunting, I was excited about all of the green space, the adorable downtown, and the potential for growth. It reminded me a lot of the small town in Michigan where I grew up. I wanted to give my children an experience where felt part of a community that takes care of its own. And Oswego delivered. ❤️
Fast forward a little over 18 and a half years to now, my children are 18 (senior) and 15 (sophomore) at OHS who are, quite literally, my favorite people in the world. I’m so proud of who they are and their potential to do great things for themselves and others. And I credit the friends, families, community members, fellow business owners, teachers, and others in Oswego who have played a role in that.
I currently work as a Content Strategist for a marketing agency, and I have been a small business owner for 20 years. My freelance writing and communications consulting business has been active in the Oswego Area Chamber on and off (now on) since moving here.
I’m sure there are plenty of people in and out of Oswego who would describe me in various ways, but I would like to think those adjectives include: leader, smart, sensible, inclusive, transparent, professional, witty and creative. When you get to know me better, you’ll find that I also love to travel and volunteer my time to organizations that have an impact on people’s lives.
